I’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Fraser. She runs a blog, does online tarot card readings and is a reiki master. She is also extremely intuitively gifted and one of the nicest people you will ever meet! In this interview we will see her journey and where it has taken her, enjoy!
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Sabrina Fraser, writer and intuitive. I like to call myself a “soul seeker” because I am passionate about connecting to my inner wisdom and living in alignment with my heart’s desire. As a spiritual wellness advocate, I seek to inspire others to do just that. I manage a website where I share personal experiences and advice through my blog posts (podcast on the horizon), and provide online Tarot readings to those looking for insight on their journey. I’m also a Reiki Master/Teacher and working diligently on developing my mediumship/psychic abilities in hopes of helping others with these in the future.
How or what made you get you get started in your line of work/the spiritual path?
Serendipity. Is it cliché to say “one thing led to another?” My desire to help and my interest in mystic arts led me on this path nearly a decade ago. I developed a knack for Tarot cards, then an interest in energy healing. I’ve always been intuitive, but after starting my Reiki studies, I realized I would actually like a second career to emerge from this passion. I wanted to help others, I just didn’t know how, so I continued working in the corporate world while living my double life as a closet spiritualist. Over time, this environment wore me down. I was growing tired of the rat race and longed for a fulfilling career where I could truly help others. Little did I know the first person I needed to help was me.
A chain of events near the end of 2016 set everything in motion. I’d been on the verge of quitting, but the new position I was after at a cool startup fell through in a truly bizarre circumstance. I was a signature away from a new job when the hiring manager was literally fired overnight. Shortly afterwards, I befriended a woman at an office Christmas party. She is nearly 40 years older than I am, but age is completely irrelevant because the minute I met her I knew I had known her in a past life. She and I bonded over our love of Reiki healing and as our relationship evolved, she recommended I visit a medium she often went to for guidance. So last year, I visited this woman and she completely changed my life.
Looking back, I realize the universe led me to her. She helped me uncover a trauma in my childhood that was the pebble holding together the dam of my subconscious. Upon removing that pebble, my intuition began to really flow. Not only that, she ignited my psychic abilities – ones I didn’t even know I had – and to this day I still don’t quite understand how she did it. It’s like she removed a blindfold. This experience helped me realize the key to growth is introspection. I decided I wanted help others free themselves from what is holding them back, so I started my website/blog.
What do you love most about your work?
I would trade the word “work” for “study” – I am forever a student, never a master. I am consistently amazed by the way the universe speaks to us, through signs, synchronicities and experiences. Through my study of new age topics and spirituality, I’ve only grown more and more curious. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my learnings with others. I love that my writing helps motivate readers when they need it most and I enjoy helping people navigate through challenging times using Tarot readings. Reiki healing and mediumship are not far behind. I think I’ll always be looking to grow my knowledge so that I can ultimately share it with others. Being of service is truly the most rewarding part of this journey.
What is one thing that has helped you on the path to getting to where you are today?
Without question: meditation. I cannot stress how important this practice is to me in my life. Holding space for yourself is an act of self-love; sitting in stillness allows you to tune in to the creator within (your soul, your heart, your truth, whatever you’d like to call it). Too often, we get caught up in our day-to-day routines, usually in autopilot, looking forward to the next task, the next weekend, the next holiday. This behaviour takes us out of the present moment and prevents us from truly connecting to our happiness. Meditation is THE way I connect with myself, with spirit and with my inner truth/guidance.
What does spirituality mean to you?
Two things: surrender and oneness.
Surrender – let go of everything you think you know. Once I let go of all my deep-seated beliefs and behaviours, I realized the universe is here to serve us. If we play by the rules of attraction, we can manifest the life we always dreamed of. It’s as simple as that. Surrender to the will of the universe and watch how you are divinely supported in everything that you do.
Oneness – we are part of a collective consciousness. We belong to the universe, yet our egos make us feel separate and alone. Shifting from fear-based thinking to love-based thinking reveals that we are all cut from the same cloth, interconnected by our very existence. It’s an incredibly liberating revelation.
What is the coolest spiritual experience you have had so far?
Remembering and healing from my trauma was the catalyst to all my profound spiritual experiences, but there was one pivotal dream that really set me on this path. Last year, I dreamt vividly of a man I had never seen before – he told me he was the father of a woman who worked in the same office as I did. He asked me to tell his daughter that everything was going to be okay. I woke up in a startle and felt emotional, which signified to me the importance of what I just experienced. I found out that woman was let go, so I had no way of telling her even though something told me I had to. I found the woman on Facebook, but chickened out. A few months later, I saw her walk by during lunch with one of my colleagues and took it as a sign. That night, I sent her a message and told her about my dream and her reaction sent my belief soaring. She told me he had indeed died and that the dream held a lot of meaning to her – she was glad that I told her and was in tears. You just can’t make that up. I’ve been mesmerized by mediumship ever since.
What advice would you give someone who aspires to do what you are doing?
If you’re drawn to something, it’s for a reason. It often feels like a magnet pulling you in – let it. Then realize fear is the only thing standing in the way. Confronting your fears will be your biggest challenge, but also one you need to face head on if you want to move forward. I’m still working on these every day. Here’s what works for me: write down what you’re most afraid of, explain why, then ask yourself what’s the worst that could happen? Then realize you’ve just fabricated all of this. Another way to nip fear in the butt is to simply start. Once you’ve done something a few times it becomes less and less scary.
